Kotamreddy Performs ‘Drishti’ Ritual For Coalition Leaders

NELLORE: Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy on Tuesday performed a traditional ‘drishti’ (evil-eye removal) ritual at his office for portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and Ministers N. Lokesh and P. Narayana.
Sridhar Reddy, along with TD state spokesperson Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy, performed the ritual wishing that the development and welfare programmes being undertaken by the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh would continue without obstacles and that the leaders would remain protected from any “evil eye”.
Explaining the gesture, Sridhar Reddy said the coalition government was pushing ahead with development and welfare programmes, Amaravati, Polavaram, irrigation projects and efforts to attract investments. He alleged that YSRC leaders were trying to obstruct the state’s progress through criticism and “curses” and said the ritual was intended to ward off such negativity.
He said the government was implementing welfare schemes, fulfilling election promises and accelerating development works across urban and rural areas. Amaravati was being developed as the state capital, while work on Polavaram and other irrigation projects was being expedited, he added.

He said `240 crore had been allocated to the Nellore Municipal Corporation for development works and thanked the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and minister Lokesh and Narayana for the allocation on behalf of Nellore residents.
Referring to development in the Nellore Rural constituency over the past two years, he thanked ministers P. Narayana and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and TD district president and MLC Beeda Ravichandra for their support.
With local body elections approaching, Sridhar Reddy appealed to people to support TD-led alliance candidates in all divisions of the Nellore Municipal Corporation. He also said the alliance would provide opportunities in politics and electoral contests to Gen-Z youth aged 21 to 35.
