Lokesh Calls For Cent Per Cent Victory In Local Body Polls
The Telugu Desam national working president asked TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP coalition leaders to join hands and take the state forward.
ANANTAPUR: Education and IT minister Nara Lokesh on Tuesday called upon Telugu Desam cadres to work towards a cent per cent victory for the party in the forthcoming local body elections.
“TD’s strike rate had been 94 per cent in the 2024 general elections across Andhra Pradesh. You can ensure 100 per cent success for the party in the local body polls,” Lokesh declared addressing a public meeting at the Raptadu constituency headquarters after unveiling the statues of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam founder N.T. Rama Rao and former minister and TD leader Paritala Ravindra.
Party leaders and workers from various parts of the erstwhile Anantapur district attended the programme.
The Telugu Desam national working president recalled the sacrifices of party workers and said their efforts had enabled leaders to occupy positions of responsibility. Recalling his Yuva Galam padayatra, he said he had witnessed problems faced by people in the erstwhile Anantapur area and pledged to work for drinking and irrigation water, and industrial development.
Referring to Paritala Ravindra, Lokesh said the former minister had fought for the principles he believed in until the end. He also recalled the contribution of Paritala Sunitha. He appreciated that the Paritala family has remained committed to the TD.
The education and IT minister said the government had brought the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project to Sri Sathya Sai district as part of the area’s and state’s development. He stressed on the need to develop irrigation, drinking water, and industries in the region.
On the upcoming local body elections, Lokesh asked party workers to remain among the people and work without ego. He underlined that TD, Jana Sena and BJP have joined hands to take the state forward. He asked coalition leaders to resolve differences internally and remain united after decisions are taken.
Taking a dig at former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over the DSC recruitment issue, the minister said he is ready for a debate on the subject and challenged Jagan to participate in it. He objected to YSRC’s attacks against teachers and warned that those violating the law would face action.
Lokesh said TD would stand by those who had accompanied him during his padayatra and he would work to protect their interests.
Those present at the public meeting included MP B.K. Parthasarathi, minister S. Savitha, MLA Paritala Sunitha, Paritala Sriram, MLAs M.S. Raju, Palle Sindhura Reddy, Bandaru Shravani, and Daggupati Venkata Prasad, and former minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy.
