Konaseema Woman Returns Home From Kuwait After Collector’s Intervention
M. Kanaka Durga, a resident of Thottaramudi village in Ainavilli mandal, had travelled to Kuwait in June 2026 for employment through an agent from Palakollu in West Godavari district.
Kakinada: A woman from Konaseema district who was stranded in Kuwait after sustaining injuries returned safely to her native village on Monday following the intervention of the district administration.
M. Kanaka Durga, a resident of Thottaramudi village in Ainavilli mandal, had travelled to Kuwait in June 2026 for employment through an agent from Palakollu in West Godavari district.
According to officials, she suffered severe spinal and leg injuries after accidentally falling down a flight of stairs while at work. The victim alleged that when she sought to return to India, the agent demanded Rs.2 lakh to arrange her travel.
Her relatives approached the Konaseema Centre for Migration (KCM), following which the district administration intervened. Konaseema district collector R. Mahesh Kumar facilitated efforts to resolve the issue.
KCM nodal officer V. Subba Rao and coordinator Golla Ramesh said that, with the assistance of the agent and the victim’s relatives, Kanaka Durga returned to her village on Monday.
KCM members Kadiyala Sathibabu, Shaik Bibi and others were present.
