HC Reserves Verdict on Plea Alleging Norm Violations in Suspended CI's Interrogation

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition alleging that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) violated prescribed norms while interrogating suspended circle inspector S.S.V.V. Naga Raju in connection with the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna.
The petition, filed by Naga Raju’s wife, Bhavani, alleged that the SIT was questioning her husband in violation of directions issued by the High Court and prison authorities. Naga Raju is an accused in the case relating to the alleged custodial death of Sai Krishna and the subsequent disappearance of the body at Krishnalanka police station.
Opposing the plea, the government pleader submitted that the SIT was conducting the interrogation strictly in accordance with the High Court’s directions and denied any violation of norms.
After hearing both sides, the High Court concluded the hearing and reserved its verdict, which is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Suresh, one of the accused in the case who had been absconding for several days, surrendered before the SIT. Police said he is a close associate of suspended CI Naga Raju. He will be taken into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
