Konaseema: 8 Fishermen Missing In Sea, Efforts On To Trace Them
According to the complaint, the fishermen set out for fishing to Visakhapatnam from the Odalarevu coast on August 3
Vijayawada: Eight fishermen including a boat owner-cum-driver went missing as they ventured into the sea for fishing on August 3 and failed to return till-date.
The Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district administration said that a fishing boat bearing the registration number IND-AP-E8-MO-135, belonging to the Odalarevu Fish Landing Centre at Allavaram Manda in the district, failed to return on the expected date of August 13.
The fishermen were carrying essentials for 15 days and 1,000 litres of diesel in their boat. Based on preliminary information, the fishing boat went to Visakhapatnam and the coastline of Paradeep.
District collector Mahesh Kumar took up the matter with the Indian Coast Guard and other defence agencies and they started a search in the sea.
Fisheries minister K Atchannaidu called for efforts to find out the missing fishermen in the sea in coordination with various official agencies.
