AP: Construction Workers Get Fresh Assurance
Andhra Pradesh Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash said the coalition government had revived welfare schemes and registration for construction workers.
Labour minister Vasamsetti Subhash said the coalition government had revived welfare schemes for construction workers that had been stalled during the previous government.
About 15 lakh workers were registered in 2018-19, but registrations stopped after the welfare schemes were cancelled through Memo No. 1214, he said. Since the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government took office in 2024, 6,777 workers had registered in two months.
Subhash said road workers employed for more than 90 days and mining workers were also eligible for registration. Workers could register through the ‘Mitra’ app.
He alleged that during 2019-24, the YSRC government diverted the 10 per cent cess earmarked for skill development instead of spending it for the intended purpose.
The coalition government would ensure that benefits reached every eligible worker, he said.
