Kesineni Sivanath Launches Skill Training Programme For SHG Women
A three-day training programme on termite, cockroach and mosquito control concluded on Wednesday at the MP’s office, where 50 SHG women were awarded certificates.
Vijayawada: MP Kesineni Sivanath has become the first Member of Parliament in NTR district to initiate a structured skill development programme for women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
A three-day training programme on termite, cockroach and mosquito control concluded on Wednesday at the MP’s office, where 50 SHG women were awarded certificates.
The programme was jointly organised by the Kesineni Foundation, Envu India and the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sivanath said the initiative reflected Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of making every family entrepreneurial. He said nearly 400 SHG women had undergone training at NIRD this December in various livelihood skills, including vermicomposting, mushroom cultivation, honey processing, handmade paper, jewellery making and pest control services.
The MP assured marketing support for the trained women and said DWCRA bazaars with free rotating stalls would be set up to help them sell their products. He added that a comprehensive plan was in place to train 250 women every month through six batches.
