Kakinada Government Hospital to Get Modern Cancer Treatment Facility
With the intervention of the Deputy Chief Minister, ONGC agreed to provide the dual-energy LINAC machine at a cost of `36.6 crore from its CSR funds, Mr Srinivas said.
Vijayawada:The Kakinada government hospital will be developed as a modern cancer treatment centre with the installation of a dual-energy LINAC machine at a cost of Rs 36.6 crore and a mobile cancer screening vehicle costing `3.5 crore, Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas said on Saturday.
Srinivas said the hospital currently functioned as a cancer referral centre and would provide modern cancer treatment to patients from Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anakapalli, Polavaram and other areas after the installation of the equipment.
Srinivas said he had been making efforts for the past two years to secure a modern cancer treatment facility at the hospital. He had discussed the issue with doctors, raised it in Parliament and explained the need for the facility to Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan.

He added that the Indian Red Cross had taken up construction of a modern cancer treatment building at a cost of Rs 7 crore and the work was nearing completion.
Srinivas said the government hospital, which had lacked such a facility for two decades, would soon have modern cancer treatment services.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union petroleum and natural gas minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for their support to the project.
