Vijayawada:Junior doctors staged a protest here on Saturday demanding a 30 per cent hike in their stipend against the proposed three per cent increase.

As part of the protest, the doctors painted ‘3 per cent vs 30 per cent’ on their faces and hands to draw the attention of the state government to their demand.

The junior doctors said a substantial increase was necessary in view of the rise in the cost of living, their working hours and the services they provide at government hospitals. They said the proposed three per cent hike did not meet their expectations and demanded a 30 per cent increase.

They appealed to the state government to resolve the issue at the earliest and said they would continue their protest until their demand was met.
