Vijayawada: Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh said the Jana Sena's primary objective is to strengthen its organisation at the grassroots level and nurture effective local leadership.

The ruling party’s six-day Membership to Leadership application drive for Vijayawada parliament constituency concluded on Sunday at the minister's camp office. Durgesh said thousands of applicants, inspired by the vision and ideology of Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan, applied for positions in various party committees.

The minister personally interacted with applicants, while a 32-member panel comprising senior leaders, observers, and representatives scrutinised every application. Separate help desks and dedicated counters had been set up for leadership aspirants from the seven Assembly segments under the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency to facilitate the Membership to Leadership application process.

Jana Sena received applications for the parliamentary, assembly, district, mandal, and village-level committees, besides affiliated wings covering legal affairs, students, media, IT and data management, environment, Seva Dal, Veera Mahila, youth, culture, handlooms, doctors, science and technology, fisheries, and other sectors.

Durgesh said every application would be examined thoroughly before party president Pawan Kalyan takes the final decision on appointments. The selection process is expected to be completed by August. The newly constituted committees thereafter will work collectively to transform Jana Sena into a formidable political force, the minister added.
