VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena president and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Friday constituted a 14-member committee to formulate the party’s strategy and guidelines for the upcoming local body elections. The JS chief is set to travel to Kerala on Saturday for specialised Ayurvedic therapy for his ailments, including injured right shoulder.
The committee will frame the procedures to be followed by Jana Sena in the local body elections. It will take into consideration the views and suggestions of party cadres at the grassroots level. The move comes after Pawan Kalyan’s call to Jana Sainiks and Veera Mahilas to prepare for the elections and preserve their fighting spirit and self-respect.
The committee comprises former assembly speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad, T. Siva Sankar, minister Kandula Durgesh, MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry, Bolisetti Srinivas, Deva Varaprasad, Ch. Vamsikrishna Yadav, Lokam Madhavi, Patsamatla Dharmaraju, Chilakam Madhusudan Reddy, Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao (Chinababu), Samineni Udayabhanu, Yanamala Bhaskar, and Korikana Ravi Kumar.
Pawan Kalyan is leaving for Kerala on Saturday on the advice of his doctors for Ayurvedic therapy aimed at facilitating a full recovery of his right shoulder. He had recently undergone surgery in Mumbai for a rotator cuff injury.
Doctors had initially advised him complete rest. They recommended that he stay away from public programmes and official duties for some time. However, keeping administrative responsibilities in view, he resumed work from his camp office within a week of the surgery.
The Deputy CM also attended pre-scheduled government programmes, held a series of departmental reviews, and conducted internal party meetings. This led to swelling on the operated shoulder increasing. He also developed a high fever.
This has finally compelled Pawan Kalyan to proceed to Kerala. Ahead of leaving, he has constituted the 14-member panel to formulate the party’s strategy and guidelines for the upcoming local body elections post consultations from party workers at the grassroots’ level.
