VIJAYAWADA: The newly arranged critical care block at the old government general hospital here would be inaugurated on July 9 by Union health minister J.P. Nadda.
This was announced on Thursday by local MP Kesineni Sivanath.
During a visit to the hospital, the MP reviewed the progress of the state-of-the-art block, interacted with engineers and officials, and assessed the status of the remaining works. He said the modern facility, equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, would significantly strengthen healthcare services for Vijayawada and its neighbouring districts.
The MP held discussions with doctors and hospital staff on the delivery of medical services and infrastructure needs. He interacted with patients and their attendants to understand their grievances and sought suggestions for improving hospital facilities.
Responding to a request from the hospital superintendent, the MP promised him that two waiting halls for patients and attendants would be constructed through his MPLADS funds. Stressing that public health remained the government's top priority, he urged doctors and staff to provide compassionate, responsible and quality treatment.
The new buildings feature advanced medical equipment, spacious wards and improved infrastructure.
Later, addressing an extensive meeting of Telugu Desam leaders and cadre from the Vijayawada West assembly constituency, the MP reviewed the Intintiki Telugu Desam outreach campaign and the ongoing organisational drive and programmes marking two years of the alliance government in Andhra Pradesh.
