JNTUK Signs MoU With Greenko, GSS, And IIT Hyderabad

KAKINADA: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) has signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Greenko, Greenko School of Sustainability (GSS), and IIT Hyderabad to strengthen education, research, skill development, and industry-academia collaboration in sustainable engineering.

The MoU will provide academic and industry support for the MTech course in Sustainable Engineering (Energy Technologies) programme to be launched by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at JNTUK.

The tripartite MoU will initially be implemented for five years. It is aimed at strengthening multidisciplinary education, sustainability-focused research, and industry-academia collaboration at JNTUK.

Under the MoU, Greenko will provide scholarships of ₹10,000 a month for two years to 10 M. Tech students every year. The support will be extended to students from the first four batches of the programme. Two Ph. D students a year pursuing research in sustainability-related areas will also receive doctoral fellowships of ₹40,000 a month for four years, applicable to the first two batches of Ph. D scholars.

The MTech programme will be linked with Greenko’s industrial zones and ventures in Kakinada through live projects, internships, and industry mentorship.

IIT Hyderabad professor Ch. Subrahmanyam said the collaboration would bring together academic strengths of JNTUK and IIT Hyderabad and Greenko’s industry expertise. This will help strengthen curriculum development, faculty training, research, and student learning in emerging sustainability domains.

Subrahmanyam said the initiative would help develop skilled professionals and researchers for addressing future challenges in sustainable energy and green technologies.

Greenko’s chief sustainability officer Paravastu Rambabu said the MoU marks a step towards strengthening industry-academia collaboration in sustainable engineering through internships, live projects, and industry mentorship. He said it would promote innovation and skill development in renewable energy, energy storage, and sustainable technologies.

JNTUK vice chancellor C.S.R.K. Prasad said sustainability, renewable energy, green technologies, and energy storage are emerging as critical areas in engineering education. He underlined that there is a need to equip students with advanced technical knowledge to meet the evolving industry requirements.
