Jagan’s 175-Seat Dream Down to 18, Says Anagani
Revenue Minister accuses YSRC of targeting officials and stoking social divisions
Tirupati: Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad said on Monday that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s political target appeared to have shifted from winning all 175 Assembly seats to securing 18 seats and retaining the Leader of the Opposition status.
Speaking to reporters in Tirupati, Satya Prasad accused YSRC leaders of targeting government officials, political leaders and others in an attempt to demoralise them and damage their reputation.
He alleged that the opposition was targeting officials and political leaders to obstruct welfare programmes, efforts to resolve issues concerning lands listed under Section 22A and industrial development. He said the government was working to resolve these land issues and would soon address the Damineedu lands issue.
The minister also accused the opposition of attempting to create communal and caste differences whenever there was peace and stability in the state. He alleged that creating divisions among people had become part of its political approach.
On land-related issues in Tirupati, Satya Prasad referred to a vigilance department report forwarded to the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA). He said the report contained details of alleged land grabbing and encroachments in Thimmanayudupalle, Mangalam and Tiruchanur.
He questioned how some opposition leaders had acquired large properties and alleged that their wealth was linked to illegal land occupations. He cited the alleged encroachment of land belonging to Venkateswara Prasad in Survey No. 479 by former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.
Meanwhile, Satya Prasad said an international cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 50,000 would be established at Settipalli in Tirupati through the BCCI. He said the foundation stone would be laid soon and expressed confidence that Tirupati could host international and IPL matches within the next three years.
He said the government was working to strengthen sports infrastructure across the state with the long-term objective of developing facilities capable of hosting major international sporting events.
