Isro to Launch PSLV-C62 on January 12
Ahead of the mission, Isro chairman Dr V. Narayanan and senior scientists on Saturday offered special prayers at Tirumala, seeking the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for the success of the launch.
Nellore: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is set to launch its first mission of 2026, PSLV-C62, from Sriharikota at 10.17 am on January 12, carrying India’s advanced Earth Observation Satellite EOS-N1 along with 15 co-passenger satellites, including eight from foreign countries. Isro sources said a 22-hour countdown for the launch will begin at 12.17 pm on Sunday.
Ahead of the mission, Isro chairman Dr V. Narayanan and senior scientists on Saturday offered special prayers at Tirumala, seeking the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for the success of the launch. The team also visited Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy temple in Srikalahasti and Sri Changala Parameswari temple in Sullurpeta.
At Srikalahasti, the Isro team was accorded antaralaya darshan and Vedic blessings. Temple Trust Board chairman Kotte Sai Prasad, members Gurrappa Shetty, Pagadala Murali and Gopinath, and temple officials welcomed the scientists and presented teertha prasadam and mementos.
Speaking after the darshan, Dr Narayanan said PSLV-C62 would be the 64th mission of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the first launch of 2026. With this mission, the total number of foreign satellites launched from India will rise to 442.
He said EOS-N1 would support strategic and advanced earth-observation applications, strengthening India’s space-based capabilities.
