VISAKHAPATNAM: Vizianagaram district collector Dr B.R. Ambedkar has issued directives to prevent accidental drowning incidents across the district by mandating the installation of warning boards at high-risk water bodies.

The collector instructed all tahsildars to immediately survey and identify dangerous areas around rivers, streams, ponds, and other water bodies where drowning risks are elevated. Following the identification process, large and clearly visible warning signboards must be installed at these locations to alert the public about water entry dangers. Additionally, each signboard will display emergency contact information, providing details on whom to contact for assistance in case of water-related accidents.

This preventive measure comes as part of the district administration’s efforts to enhance public safety and reduce drowning incidents during the monsoon season and throughout the year. The district information public relations department of Vizianagaram issued the directive, emphasising the urgency of implementing these safety measures.
