Heavy to Very Heavy Rain Forecast for Palnadu, Prakasam Today

Strong winds gusting with speeds of 50–60 kmph are likely at isolated places over NCAP, Yanam and SCAP. Strong winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely over Rayalaseema.

Vijayawada: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rains over some places in Palnadu and Prakasam districts and heavy rain in areas of ASR, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Kadapa districts on Thursday. Further, heavy rain has been forecast in several districts of AP during three days from August 15 to August 17.

Strong winds gusting with speeds of 50–60 kmph are likely at isolated places over NCAP, Yanam and SCAP. Strong winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely over Rayalaseema.

The Amaravati Meteorological Centre warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall can occur at isolated places (orange alert) in parts of Palnadu and Prakasam districts, with strong winds of 50-60 kmph speed at isolated places in districts like Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Palnadu, Krishna, West Godavari, Eluru, Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, ASR, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam. Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam on Thursday.

It warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places (yellow alert) in parts of districts including Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, Kadapa, Sri Sathya Sai, Ananatapur, Nandyal and Kurnool on Thursday, along with strong winds of speeds 40–50 kmph. A private bus en route from Addubangi, Odisha, to Hyderabad overturned on National Highway 16 near Reliance Bank at Nuthaguntapalem in Kasinkota mandal of Anakapalle after skidding over rain-soaked. The bus had been carrying 35 passengers, including children. Fortunately, passengers sustained only minor injuries. As a precautionary measure, authorities shifted them to the Anakapalli NTR Hospital for treatment.
