Heavy Rain Disrupts Flights in AP; Several Flights Diverted, Cancelled
Several flights have been affected, with some diverted to other airports and others reportedly cancelled
Hyderabad: Heavy rains and adverse weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh have disrupted flight operations. Several flights have been affected, with some diverted to other airports and others reportedly cancelled. Passengers are facing considerable inconvenience due to the disruptions.
Vizag–Vijayawada flight diverted to Shamshabad
An IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada was unable to land at Vijayawada due to adverse weather conditions. The flight was subsequently diverted to Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad–Rajahmundry flight diverted to Bengaluru
Meanwhile, a Star Air flight (591) from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry was also unable to land at Rajahmundry due to the weather conditions. The flight was reportedly diverted to Bengaluru. Several Star Air flights were also reportedly cancelled due to the adverse weather.
All Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam flights cancelled
All flights from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam have been cancelled. An IndiGo flight travelling from Chennai to Visakhapatnam via Vijayawada was also sent back from Vijayawada. It was announced that flight services would remain suspended until weather conditions improve.
Flight unable to land at Bhogapuram
An Air India flight, IX 1373, was unable to land at Bhogapuram Airport due to heavy rains. The flight departed from Vijayawada at 8.35 pm on Wednesday and was scheduled to land at Bhogapuram at 9.40 pm. However, it was diverted after the signalling system at Bhogapuram reportedly became non-functional due to the rain.
Ministers Atchannaidu and Kondapalli Srinivas were among the passengers on board the flight. The Air India IX 1373 flight eventually landed safely at Nagpur. Passengers heaved a sigh of relief after the flight landed safely in Nagpur following nearly two hours of uncertainty.
