Visakhapatnam: A rise in fever cases in Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) and Parvathipuram Manyam districts has kept health authorities on high alert, with medical teams intensifying surveillance and treatment measures in tribal areas.

Additional district medical and health officer Dr Pratap said around 400 of the nearly 2,000 outpatients visiting hospitals across ASR district every day were reporting fever symptoms. The district has a population of about six lakh.
He said health workers were conducting door-to-door visits in remote tribal areas to identify patients early and provide treatment, while preventive measures were being stepped up across the district.
In Parvathipuram Manyam district, 63 fever cases were reported on Friday alone, followed by another 31 admissions on Saturday. Several children were among those affected.
Government hospitals are facing overcrowding, with 43 patients occupying 15 beds in the children's ward, 35 patients accommodated on 12 beds in the women's ward and 46 patients being treated on 20 beds in the men's ward.
Health officials have advised residents to maintain hygiene, prevent water stagnation and seek immediate medical attention if fever symptoms develop. The increase in cases has raised concerns over the spread of seasonal and vector-borne diseases.
Meanwhile, district medical and health officer Dr S. Bhaskara Rao dismissed reports of a surge in malaria cases. He said laboratory findings and clinical assessments showed malaria incidence remained relatively low.
According to official data, 79 malaria cases have been reported in the district so far this June, compared with 285 cases recorded during the corresponding period last year, indicating a significant decline.
