HC Directs AP to Clear Industrial Incentive Dues by September-End
The court observed that it would not be fair to evade payment of incentives promised to industrialists for setting up spinning mills on the ground of the state’s precarious financial position.
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to clear by the end of September the arrears of industrial incentives assured to industrialists for setting up spinning mills.
A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice Challa Gunaranjan was hearing appeals filed by the state government challenging an earlier High Court order issued in December 2024. The order had directed the government to clear the incentive arrears along with interest within four months.
The court observed that it would not be fair to evade payment of incentives promised to industrialists for setting up spinning mills on the ground of the state’s precarious financial position.
Advocate-General Dammalapati Srinivas, appearing for the state government, submitted that the government owed incentive arrears to the industrialists and that payments had been delayed due to its poor financial condition. He informed the court that the dues would be paid soon.
After hearing both sides, the court adjourned the matter for further hearing in October.
