GVMC Blacklists Two Firms For Tender Irregularities
Commissioner Ketan Garg on Tuesday ordered the blacklisting of two contracting firms for two years: Reports
VISAKHAPATNAM: GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg on Tuesday ordered the blacklisting of two contracting firms for two years over discrepancies in tender percentages recorded for engineering works and irregularities in their correction.
According to a Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) release, discrepancies in recording tender percentages were detected during the tendering process and bill processing, involving the concerned engineers, drawing branch staff and contracting agencies.
The orders stated that the firms had accepted the approved tender percentages and signed agreements after Letters of Acceptance (LOAs) were issued, without raising any objections. However, findings indicated that the contracting agencies had colluded with departmental staff in correcting the tender percentages, prompting the Commissioner to initiate strict action.
Accordingly, the Commissioner ordered the blacklisting of Class-II and Class-III firms, barring them from participating in GVMC tenders for two years. The deposits held by GVMC in connection with the works will also be forfeited and not refunded. The orders have come into immediate effect, the release said.
GVMC emphasised the importance of transparency in tendering, adherence to prescribed rules and proper utilisation of public funds. Garg warned that violations in the execution of engineering works and irregularities in the tendering process would be viewed seriously and action taken against those responsible in accordance with the applicable rules.
