Vijayawada:Chittari Macharouthu Saikanth Varma assumed charge as Guntur district collector on Wednesday, stressing efficient governance and accountability.

Calling Guntur a key district, he urged better implementation of priority government schemes and asked officials to submit detailed reports for a comprehensive review meeting scheduled on April 7.

Later, he took part in the distribution of NTR Bharosa Pensions at Gundaraopet, interacting with beneficiaries and handing over pensions, including to bedridden and differently-abled persons.

He said ₹110.50 crore is being disbursed to 2,53,379 beneficiaries across categories, and stressed transparency in distribution. Joint Collector Ashutosh Srivastava and other officials were present.
