Govt Appoints Dr Vishnuvardhan as New DME

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved proposals involving postings for 15 newly promoted Additional Directors of Medical Education (ADMEs), four medical college principals and nine hospital superintendents.

KAKINADA: Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) principal Dr A. Vishnu Vardhan has been appointed Director of Medical Education (DME), while Dr Usha Kiran, Head of Pharmacology, has been named the new principal of the college.

Dr Vishnu Vardhan assumed charge as RMC principal on May 7, 2025, and initiated several developmental and healthcare measures at the college and Government General Hospital (GGH), Kakinada.
As head of the Anaesthesiology department between 2023 and 2025, he supervised nearly 14,000 major surgeries and introduced round-the-clock neurosurgery and orthopaedic operations at GGH. Officials said all trauma orthopaedic cases were attended within four hours of admission.
He also facilitated procurement of ventilators, anaesthesia machines and other medical equipment worth over ₹1.8 crore through CSR initiatives, besides helping establish a 20 KL liquid medical oxygen plant during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Vishnu Vardhan also mobilised funds for infrastructure development at the over 100-year-old college campus, including lecture halls, sports courts and modernisation works.
Faculty members and students congratulated him on his appointment as DME.
