Godavari Level Recedes; 8.90 Lakh Cusecs Discharged Into Sea
Officials said the flood situation was improving as inflows into the Godavari continued to decrease.

Vijayawada:The water level in the Godavari river continued to recede on Monday, with 8.90 lakh cusecs of floodwater being discharged from the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram into the sea as of 10 pm.
The river had reached its highest level of the season on August 2, when the water level at the barrage touched 15 feet and the discharge peaked at 14.61 lakh cusecs.
As flood inflows declined, the water level continued to fall on Monday. At 3.58 pm, authorities withdrew the second flood warning after the level dropped to 13.70 feet, with a discharge of 12.68 lakh cusecs from the barrage.
Officials said the flood situation was improving as inflows into the Godavari continued to decrease.
