Missing Girl Kid of Madanapalle Found Murdered in Neighbour’s House

Hyderabad: The seven-year-old girl, who had gone missing from her house at Neeruguttavaripalli in Madanapalle town of Annamayya district, has been found murdered on Tuesday.
According to police, the victim Rishika Priya, daughter of a handloom worker, had gone missing while playing outside her house on Monday evening. When she did not return home, her parents searched the neighbourhood and later lodged a complaint with police.
Police took up the search and on suspicion, they checked up the house of a man living opposite the girl’s house. Police found the child’s body concealed inside a plastic water drum. Preliminary investigation indicated that the girl had been strangled to death.
Police shifted her body to the government hospital for post-mortem examination, including whether there had been any sexual assault. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Kulavardhan. He is said to have been drunk at the time of the crime. Police did not confirm any drug use. They have registered a case under relevant sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Recovery of the girl’s body from the neighbour’s house has led to tension in the area. Residents gathered in large numbers outside the accused’s house, demanding that he be handed over to them. They raised slogans against the police.
Protesters, including members of the transgender community, staged a road blockade demanding strict punishment for the accused. Senior police officials reached the spot and appealed for calm, assuring that stringent legal action would be taken. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area.
In her reaction, state Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha described the incident as deeply distressing. She said she has spoken to the victim’s family and assured them of full support from the government. The minister said she has sought details from officials soon after being alerted about the case by IT minister Nara Lokesh.
Anitha reiterated that the government will ensure strict punishment to the accused.
