Former CS Asks Students to Lead Climate Campaigns

Vijayawada: Former AP chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has called upon the student community and youth to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Mission LiFE nationwide movement for adopting sustainable lifestyles, conserving energy and achieving India’s climate goals.

Addressing a programme to scale up environmental protection and energy efficiency activities in southern states, Krishna Rao commended the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for rolling out innovative schemes across the nation, which have contributed to over 40 per cent of India’s climate change mitigation efforts.

The former chief secretary commended the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for contributing a lot to the success of the National Energy Conservation Movement in south India with the support of BEE and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

BEE’s media adviser for southern states A. Chandrasekhar Reddy highlighted Visakhapatnam’s potential in becoming a model sustainable city. He explained that with its bustling port and growing industrial sector, Vizag is uniquely placed in showcasing the benefits of mindful consumption and energy efficiency.
