Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday directed police to serve a notice of appearance under Section 35(3) of the BNSS on YSRC senior leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu and adjourned the hearing of his petition to September.

A single judge bench headed by Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao was hearing Rambabu's petition seeking quashing of a police case registered against him.

Guntur TD president Pilli Manikyala Rao had lodged a complaint at Arundalpet police station alleging that Rambabu had posted a morphed video of Union minister of state Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on his official Instagram account with an intention to defame him. Rao had also complained against the minister for allegedly showing disrespect to the national flag in the video.

After hearing both sides, the court adjourned the matter for further hearing in September.
