Dy CM Calls for Spread of Awareness Among Farmers on Super El Niño Impact on Crops

Deputy CM stresses crop insurance, water conservation and farmer outreach.

Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has called for the spread of more awareness among farmers on the adverse impact of Super El Niño like a resultant water crisis for raising crops in the state.

Water Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu called on the deputy CM at his camp office in Mangalagiri on Thursday to enquire about his health and discussed the impact of Super El Niño.

In response, Kalyan called for educating the farmers on the crop insurance scheme under Pradhan Mantri Phasal Bima Yojana and felt the need to organise direct meetings with the farmers to inform them about the prevailing climatic conditions, their impact and how the government was planning assistance.

Underlining the importance of every drop of water in the crisis period, the deputy CM wanted desiltation of canals and repair works to their bunds to stop wastage of water.

Moreover, the Deputy CM asked the minister to extend all requisite support to the farmers in Pithapuram assembly constituency in Kakinada district. Later, the minister wished Kalyan speedy recovery to resume an active role in public service.
