Deputy CM’s Wife Anna Konidala Donates ₹6.3 Lakh to Vizag Zoo

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam has announced that Anna Konidala, wife of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, who also holds the Environment and Forest portfolios, has adopted an Asiatic elephant and a Royal Bengal Tiger under the zoo’s Animal Adoption Programme.

Accordingly, she has donated ₹6.3 lakh to support their nutrition, veterinary care, and enrichment for one year. The donation coincides with the birthday of Anna Konidala, which falls on August 1.

She has contributed ₹4.3 lakh towards the care of the Asiatic elephant, India’s National Heritage Animal, and ₹2 lakh for the Royal Bengal Tiger, the country’s National Animal.

Curator G. Mangamma said the gesture reflects Anna Konidala’s commitment to wildlife conservation and sets an inspiring example of celebrating special occasions by supporting animal welfare. She underlined that adoption of the zoo animals underscores compassion for India’s natural heritage and strengthens the country’s conservation efforts.

The IGZP said it is honoured by Anna Konidala’s contribution and has welcomed her for becoming part of the IGZP Animal Adoption Programme.

Officials said donations under the programme are eligible for exemption under Section 80G (5) of the Income Tax Act.
