Kadapa: CPI state secretary Gujjula Eshwaraiah has demanded the immediate removal of Kurnool Range deputy inspector general of police Dr Koya Praveen, alleging that he was acting in favour of a particular political party.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Eshwaraiah said the people did not need a police officer who allegedly supported a political party while discharging his duties.

He claimed that people were aware of the alleged irregularities involving the officer.

Referring to the ongoing local body elections, Eshwaraiah alleged that the DIG’s conduct during the nomination process was questionable and demanded his immediate removal from election-related responsibilities.

Eshwaraiah said Koya Praveen would be better off removing his khaki uniform and wearing a yellow shirt, in an apparent reference to the Telugu Desam (TD).

He questioned the officer’s role during the elections and asked whether it was not his responsibility to protect democracy and ensure that the electoral process was conducted fairly.
