NTR District Collector Seeks Political Parties' Cooperation for Transparent Electoral Roll Revision
Collector reviewed the progress of the SIR exercise across the district's seven Assembly constituencies
VIJAYAWADA: NTR district collector Dr G. Lakshmisha on Saturday appealed to recognised political parties to cooperate in the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, stating that the district administration is committed to preparing a transparent, impartial and error-free voters' list in accordance with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
Addressing a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties in Vijayawada, the collector reviewed the progress of the SIR exercise across the district's seven Assembly constituencies. He said the revision was being carried out to ensure the inclusion of every eligible voter while maintaining the integrity of the electoral roll.
Dr Lakshmisha said enumeration forms had been distributed to all 17,13,445 voters in the district. He also explained the digitisation and data-mapping process and demonstrated how voters could retrieve their details from the 2002 SIR electoral roll through the “Search Your Name in Last SIR” option on the Election Commission's voter services portal.
The collector said two help desks had been established at each of the district's 1,792 polling stations to provide information, clarify doubts and assist voters in filling and submitting enumeration forms.
He urged voters to make use of the help desks in addition to seeking assistance from Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He also appealed to Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing political parties to create awareness and assist voters at the grassroots level.
Stating that the SIR was aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process, Dr Lakshmisha called for coordinated efforts to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the electoral roll.
The collector also clarified queries raised by representatives of various political parties and received their suggestions.
District revenue officer M. Lakshminarasimham and representatives of political parties, including P. Harikrishna (AAP), Kakani Tarun (BJP), P. Daniel (BSP), D.V. Krishna (CPM), Y. Anjaneya Reddy and G. Sundar Paul (YSRC), attended the meeting.
