CM Naidu to Hand Over House-site Pattas to 24,057 Vijayawada Families
The distribution will be taken up under the Pedalaku Pattabhishekam programme and this would hopefully bring a permanent solution to a long-pending issue, particularly for residents of hill areas in the three Vijayawada assembly constituencies.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will distribute house-site regularisation pattas to 24,057 families in Vijayawada on September 30, conferring full ownership rights over properties covered by decades-old NTR-era house-site pattas.
The distribution will be taken up under the Pedalaku Pattabhishekam programme and this would hopefully bring a permanent solution to a long-pending issue, particularly for residents of hill areas in the three Vijayawada assembly constituencies.
The government would regularise the houses constructed on land covered by the old NTR house-site pattas and provide beneficiaries with legal ownership of their properties. The move follows the recent distribution of regularisation pattas by the Chief Minister to 28,445 families in Visakhapatnam, covering land valued at ₹8,874 crore.
In Vijayawada, the regularisation would cover 617 acres, equivalent to 29.86 lakh square yards. While the land being regularised is estimated to be worth around Rs.9,800 crore for the purpose of the programme, its market value has been estimated at approximately Rs.24,297 crore. Each beneficiary family might receive an asset valued at around Rs.40–45 lakh.
The pattas will benefit families spread across eight assembly constituencies and 15 mandals in NTR and Krishna districts. A substantial number of beneficiaries are residents of houses built on hill areas within Vijayawada east, west and central constituencies.
Residents of these areas have been seeking regularisation for decades, arguing that legal ownership would provide security for their homes and greater certainty over their property. The issue was also raised by NTR district public representatives at a recent district-level meeting, following which the government expedited the regularisation process.
The beneficiaries include 12,093 BC families, 6,130 OC families, 4,546 SC families, 955 Muslim BC families and 333 ST families.
Constituency-wise, Vijayawada East has the highest number of beneficiaries at 7,990, followed by Vijayawada West with 7,465 and Vijayawada central with 5,815. Gannavaram has 602 beneficiaries, Jaggayyapeta 1,135, Mylavaram 981, Nandigama 54 and Tiruvuru 15.
MP Kesineni Sivanath said this is a major step towards resolving the ownership concerns surrounding old house-site pattas and providing thousands of families with legally secure property rights.
