CM Naidu Directs Contract Agencies to Expedite Works in Amaravati
Naidu advised the contract agencies to ensure a brand image for Amaravati being built as a futuristic city. He criticised those who were trying to stall the works through litigation.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed the contract agencies to expedite the construction of capital city Amaravati.
Naidu reviewed the progress of construction works with the representatives from these agencies here. He said they must shape Amaravati as ‘Hyderabad plus’ and complete the works ahead of schedule.
Officials informed the CM that works worth `50,999 crore were entrusted to a string of contract agencies. The works related to housing, trunk infra, LPS infra, assembly, high court, secretariat towers and iconic buildings were going on, they said.
Naidu directed them to ensure availability of adequate manpower, machinery and equipment for the construction works.
Urban development minister P. Narayana informed the CM that at present, 26,924 workers and more than 5,140 heavy machines were involved in these project works. The streams like Kondaveeti Vagu and Pala Vagu are being widened to facilitate free flow of water in them.

The chief minister made several suggestions on construction of residential quarters for secretaries, principal secretaries, the basic amenities thereof, as also the assembly, high court and secretariat towers.
“Once the construction works are completed, we would invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the buildings. Let us review the progress of works every two months,” he said.
