Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Friday expressed grief over the death of Visakhapatnam-based chief engineer Patnala Suresh in a missile attack on a vessel near the Oman coast.

The incident has sparked grief in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in Visakhapatnam, where Suresh hailed from.

In separate messages posted on social media platform X, the two leaders conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family and assured government support.

Naidu said he was saddened by the death of Suresh, who was serving as chief engineer aboard the vessel at the time of the attack. He described the loss of life while discharging professional duties as unfortunate.

The Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the family and said the state government would provide all possible assistance. He added that officials had been instructed to coordinate with the Indian Embassy and authorities in Oman to facilitate the repatriation of the mortal remains.

Pawan Kalyan also expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, describing the death of the marine engineer as tragic.

Referring to the attack on the vessel near the Oman coast, he said the incident was particularly distressing in the context of prevailing tensions in West Asia.

The Deputy Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the family and assured them of the Andhra Pradesh government's support during the difficult period.
