Chodavaram Court Sentences Two Men In 2015 Cannabis Smuggling Case

Visakhapatnam: The 9th Additional District Court in Chodavaram of Visakhapatnam district has sentenced two men to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh each in a 2015 cannabis smuggling case.
The accused, Jajimoggala Sattibabu alias Pentaiah, 39, and Gokada Chellubabu, 28, both residents of Bailapudi village, were arrested on August 7, 2015 while transporting 100 kg of cannabis near Bailapudi in Cheedikada mandal.
Cheedikada police registered a case and filed a charge sheet following the investigation. After examining evidence and hearing arguments, the court found both guilty under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and ordered two years of simple imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
Sub-inspector A. Koteswara Rao investigated the case and Additional Public Prosecutor Cheepurupalli Suryanarayana represented the prosecution.
