Kakinada: Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas has said that the Centre has sanctioned six additional BSNL 4G towers in Kakinada district to improve mobile and internet connectivity in rural, tribal and remote areas.

The MP said the approval was aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure and providing better communication services to residents of underserved villages.

Uday Srinivas said he had written to Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in September 2025 and had also raised the issue in Parliament, seeking improved telecom facilities in the district.

He said the Centre had responded positively by sanctioning six additional BSNL 4G towers under the Digital Bharat Nidhi scheme, in addition to the 23 towers already functioning in the district.

According to the MP, the new towers will be installed at Mettuchinta, Padavulapalem, Thotapalli and Vantada villages in Prathipadu mandal, and at Dhara Jagannadhapuram and Ginnilaram villages in Rowthulapadu mandal.

He said the enhanced connectivity would improve access to online education, healthcare services, e-governance initiatives, digital transactions and employment opportunities in the region.
