Centre Approves ₹2,447.98 crore For AP’s NHM Plan
The Centre has asked the state to prioritise NHM programmes while utilising the funds
VIJAYAWADA: The Centre has approved Andhra Pradesh’s annual plan of `2,447.98 crore for implementing the National Health Mission (NHM) during 2026-27, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Wednesday.
Of the total allocation, the Centre’s share is `1,468.79 crore and the state’s share `979.19 crore. The Centre has asked the state to prioritise NHM programmes while utilising the funds, the minister said.
A major share of `1,008.50 crore has been allocated for human resources and wages of NHM staff. Another `116.50 crore has been earmarked for tuberculosis control, `88.66 crore for the Janani Shishu Suraksha programme and `68.28 crore for cancer and diabetes control.
The Centre has also allocated `75.50 crore for five NHM programmes, with special attention to tribal areas, while `411.12 crore will be provided as grants under various heads.
Yadav said the funds would be used to strengthen emergency healthcare services and teleconsultation, besides providing essential medicines, vaccines and medical equipment at health centres across the state.
