Case Booked Against Ambati Over Funeral Incident

According to police, Ambati and his supporters allegedly obstructed police personnel while a Guard of Honour was being presented during the funeral.

Kakinada:Kirlampudi police have registered a case against former minister and YSRC leader Ambati Rambabu on charges of obstructing police personnel during the funeral of veteran Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

According to police, Ambati and his supporters allegedly obstructed police personnel while a Guard of Honour was being presented during the funeral. Based on a complaint lodged by Armed Reserve Sub-Inspector V. Appala Raju and other police personnel, a case was registered under Sections 132 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police sources said the funeral was ultimately conducted with government honours. Following the incident, Eluru Range Inspector General of Police G.V.G. Ashok Kumar reviewed the matter with Kakinada Superintendent of Police, Pedapudi DSP A.B.G. Tilak and other senior police officials.

Meanwhile, Mudragada's sons, M. Veera Raghava Rao and M. Giri, said in a statement that their father's last rites were performed strictly in accordance with his wishes. They also stated that there had been no cordial relations between Mudragada and his daughter Barlapudi Kranthi for several years and that he had expressed his wish that she should not attend his funeral. They appealed to the media and social media users not to circulate misinformation.
