AP Reports 12 Covid-19 Cases, Four Deaths
Health secretary Veerapandian said in a statement here on Thursday that this time, the first case of Covid-19 was reported in the state on June 26 in Kadapa district. From July 1 to 16, an additional 11 Covid-19 cases were reported, taking the total cases to 12.
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has reported 12 Covid-19 cases and four deaths from June 26 to July 16.
Health secretary Veerapandian said in a statement here on Thursday that this time, the first case of Covid-19 was reported in the state on June 26 in Kadapa district. From July 1 to 16, an additional 11 Covid-19 cases were reported, taking the total cases to 12.
The statement said that out of the total number of Covid-19 cases, Kadapa district recorded the highest number of cases at eight followed by Guntur-2 and Visakhaptnam and Kakinada district one each.
Some 67 suspected cases were subjected to the Covid-19 tests. Of these, 11 cases tested ‘ positive’ between June 26 and July 15. However, one from Kakinada district and another patient too tested positive in the Christian Medical College Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
Among the four Covid-19 deaths, three patients were from Kadapa district and one from Kakinada district. They were already having severe health complications, which aggravated the situation, leading to their death.
“We sent five samples for analysis to the National Institute of Virology in Pune. Three patietns were under home isolation while two were undergoing medical treatment in hospitals while three more were discharged after the treatment,” the statement explained.
Veerapandian ruled out any cause for worry about Covid-19 and advised the people to take preventive measures. “We kept the hospitals and the doctors on alert to meet any health emergency.”
On the other hand, a total of 339 Covid-19 cases have been reported in India since July 1. Of them, Kerala-115, Karnataka-64, Maharashtra-43, Tamil Nadu-39, Andaman-18, Delhi-18, Rajasthan-12 apart from a few more cases registered in other states.
