BSP Leaders Seek Governor’s Intervention Over Crimes Against Dalits
The BSP leaders sought protection for the families of victims and action against those responsible in accordance with law.
Vijayawada:Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders led by Andhra Pradesh president Bandela Goutham Kumar met Governor S. Abdul Nazeer at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday and sought his intervention over alleged murders, attacks, harassment and social discrimination against Dalits.
The BSP leaders sought protection for the families of victims and action against those responsible in accordance with law.
The Governor assured them that he would call for a report from the State government on the issue.
Earlier, tension prevailed near Lok Bhavan when a large number of BSP leaders and supporters attempted to lay siege in protest against alleged attacks on Dalits. Police tried to stop them.
The Governor subsequently invited the BSP leaders for talks, heard their concerns and assured them that a report would be sought from the State government for further action.
