Visakhapatnam: The Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) celebrated International Coffee Day at the Arabica Araku Valley Coffee Café in Visakhapatnam by offering free Araku coffee to visitors and highlighting initiatives to promote the tribal-grown brand worldwide.

Addressing the gathering, GCC chairman Kidari Shravan Kumar said Araku coffee, cultivated by tribal farmers in the Agency region, has gained national and international recognition.

He said sustained efforts were underway to strengthen the brand’s presence in global markets.

He noted that the state government, under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu's leadership, was supporting initiatives to enhance Araku coffee’s international profile.

Shravan Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mention of Araku coffee during the Mann Ki Baat programme had significantly increased its visibility across the country.

He also acknowledged the support of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and tribal welfare minister Gummidi Sandhyarani in promoting the product.

Highlighting GCC’s marketing initiatives, he said Araku coffee had been showcased at international forums and in cities such as Paris and Davos, introducing the distinctive tribal-grown coffee to a wider global audience.

He added that efforts were also underway to expand overseas markets and secure better returns for tribal coffee growers.

GCC general manager (Administration) Sandhyarani, finance general manager Umadevi, DCM Suryanarayana, divisional managers Mahendra and Devaraj, and other officials and staff participated in the programme.
