VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) will complete and dedicate 24 major transmission projects worth ₹3,507 crore between June and December 2026, significantly strengthening the state's power infrastructure and ensuring reliable electricity supply to all sectors.

Reviewing the progress of transmission works at Vidyut Soudha in Vijayawada on Tuesday, special chief secretary K. Vijayanand directed officials to expedite project execution and ensure timely commissioning of all ongoing infrastructure works.

Vijayanand, who is also the special CS to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, stressed that the government and APTRANSCO are committed to providing quality, reliable, and uninterrupted power supply to agriculture, industries, commercial establishments, and domestic consumers.

The special CS said Andhra Pradesh's growing power demand requires rapid expansion of the transmission network through 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV projects. He noted that APTRANSCO has already made substantial progress by commissioning three 400 kV substations, eight 220 kV substations, and 21 substations of 132 kV capacity. These projects have added 1,465 MVA transformation capacity and 571 circuit kilometres of transmission lines to the state grid.

Appreciating the efforts of engineers and project teams, Vijayanand said the utility has completed several projects despite multiple challenges. 68 transmission projects worth ₹5,279 crore are currently under execution. Once completed, they will add 15,224.50 MVA transformation capacity and 1,828 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, considerably enhancing the state's transmission capabilities.

The special chief secretary reviewed plans for 29 new transmission projects for which tenders have already been floated. These schemes are expected to create an additional 4,520 MVA transformation capacity and 700 circuit kilometres of transmission lines. Besides, APTRANSCO is preparing to invite tenders for another 72 projects within the next three months.

The 24 projects scheduled for inauguration include key substations and transmission systems in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Nandyala, Konaseema, Markapuram, Sri Sathya Sai, Nellore, Kurnool, and Eluru districts. Major among these include the 400/220 kV Gudivada substation, 400/132 kV Ainavilli substation, and the 400/220 kV GIS Atchutapuram project.

Vijayanand said the projects would improve grid stability, reduce transmission losses, and support Andhra Pradesh's industrial, agricultural, and socio-economic growth, while creating a robust, modern, and future-ready power transmission network.
