APSPDCL Sets Up Control Rooms To Monitor Power Supply
Special teams and nodal officers have been placed on alert in Nellore and Tirupati districts to handle power disruptions during cyclone-related heavy rains.
APSPDCL has put its power supply network on alert in Nellore and Tirupati districts, keeping special teams ready and setting up control rooms to deal with possible disruptions due to heavy rains caused by the cyclone.
APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti said on Sunday that nodal officers had been appointed at Circle, Division, Sub-Division and Section levels to monitor the situation and coordinate power restoration works.
He directed superintending engineers and other officials to remain alert, particularly in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall. Special teams comprising officers and staff have been kept ready to restore power supply immediately in case of interruptions.
Officials have also been instructed to maintain adequate stocks of essential materials, including electricity poles, conductors, transformers, insulators and safety equipment. Contractors required for repair works should also be made available to ensure quick restoration.
Control rooms have been established at divisional offices to monitor power supply and coordinate with field staff. The nodal officers will oversee restoration works and ensure that complaints are addressed without delay.
Lotheti advised consumers to keep emergency lights and drinking water ready at home, as power supply could be affected during heavy rainfall. He cautioned people against touching electricity poles or standing beneath power lines during rain.
People who notice fallen electricity poles or snapped power lines should immediately inform the nearest electricity department officials or call the toll-free numbers 1912 or 1800 425 155333. Consumers can also report electricity-related complaints through the APSPDCL WhatsApp number 91333 31912.
