With the Murasu cyclone threatening to bring heavy rainfall, Palnadu district superintendent of police Jagadish Adahalli has directed police officers and personnel across the district to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property.

The SP instructed all station house officers (SHOs) and police personnel to identify vulnerable areas and ensure adequate security arrangements in view of the expected heavy rains. Special surveillance should be maintained near streams, culverts, and other vulnerable locations to prevent accidents, he underlined.

While asking police personnel to exercise caution during the cyclone, he wanted them to take steps to prevent traffic disruptions and respond promptly to emergencies arising from the cyclone. The SP directed officers and staff to keep raincoats and other necessary equipment ready, and remain prepared to respond according to the prevailing weather conditions.

Appealing to people to exercise caution, Jagadish advised them to stay away from overflowing streams and waterlogged areas. People requiring help can contact the Palnadu district police control room at 94407 96184 or dial 112. The police will remain on alert round-the-clock to protect lives and property, he stated.

The SP said in view of the impending cyclone, the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) programme scheduled for Monday has been cancelled. He requested people to take note of the cancellation and cooperate with authorities.

With regard to municipal elections, additional SP (Administration) Rohit Kumar Choudary visited several wards and polling stations in Macherla municipality on Sunday to inspect police bandobust. He reviewed the security deployment and issued instructions to police personnel to remain vigilant and prevent any untoward incidents.
