Appointment of TD Party In-Charge in P. Gannavaram Constituency Turning Ticklish

Local leaders demand the party appoint someone from within the constituency.

Kakinada: Ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders and cadres in P. Gannavaram assembly constituency of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district are expressing their stiff opposition to appointment of non-constituency TDP leaders as in-charge of the constituency.

The dissenters are demanding that the party high command instead appoint any of the local leaders to lead the party in the constituency.

Recently, Konaseema district in-charge and Agriculture Minister K. Achannaidu had interacted with TD leaders and workers of P. Gannavaram constituency announced Following these meetings, Achannaidu announced that a three-member committee or an in-charge would be appointed to the constituency to look after the party affairs.

Subsequently, Konaseema district Telugu Desam president Guthula Sai and general secretary Gandham Pallam Raju convened a meeting in the constituency on the issue. Thereafter, they made it clear that they would not allow the appointment of non-constituency persons to oversee party activities in the constituency.

The party’s SC committee leader Chinnam Bala Vijaya Rao went on to say that they will not tolerate if outsiders are foisted upon them, as there are many leaders in the constituency who are capable enough in carrying out the party activities. regime should be given to one of those leaders.

However, Pichetti Verriah took objection to Vijaya Rao’s comments, saying Moka Ananda Sagar of Katrenikona mandal has been working in the P. Gannavaram constituency for the past seven years and rendering services to the party and poor people. Incidentally, Ananda Sagar has been camping in the constituency and has gone on to open an office. He is receiving representations from people every Friday to redress their grievances by contacting officials. Ananda Sagar is among the aspirants for the post of P. Gannavaram constituency TD in-charge.

Among the others aspiring for the post are Maha Sena (Saripalli) Rajesh, who has been highlighting Telugu Desam government’s achievements and criticising the YSRC for its past failures. In 2024 elections, TD high command even announced the assembly ticket for Rajesh. But at the last minute, the constituency went to Jana Sena.

Those looking for appointment as TD party in-charge of P. Gannavaram include Nagabathula Subba Rao, a businessman, social activist, and resident of Ambajipeta, Jalem Subba Rao, Nakka Sunil, and Nedunuri Veerraju.
