AP Terror Links Sympathisers In NIA Custody
An NIA team visited Vijayawada to seize and take custody of all records related to the AP terror links case, and has now taken the accused into custody.
Rajamahendravaram: The recently accused terrorist sympathizers, who were kept in Rajamahendravaram Central Jail, have been taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA officials have been questioning the accused at the Jampet Women’s Police Station after their arrest in Vijayawada by the Kothapeta Police. The NIA has prepared a special questionnaire to draw information from the accused.
The terror sympathisers' case originating in Vijayawada was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) two weeks ago. In late March this year, Vijayawada police arrested 12 terror sympathizers linked to multiple regions across Vijayawada, Patna, Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka, and Telangana.
Given the multi-state nature of the case, the NIA has taken over the investigation. An NIA team subsequently visited Vijayawada to seize and take custody of all records related to the case, and has now taken them into custody.
The arrested were allegedly attracted by the ideology of terrorist organisations such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist organisations. The NIA officials are currently questioning the accused based on their social media accounts, phone call data, and other information. Reportedly, police are also investigating whether they conspired to carry out blasts in the country.
