AP ranks first in e-Shram portal integration
Get all unorganised sector workers registered in the state: CS Vijayanand
Vijayawada:Chief Secretary K Vijayanand has directed officials to register all those working in the unorganized sector in the state on the e-Shram portal.
The directive was issued at a meeting of the state-level monitoring committee on the e-Shram portal, held at the state secretariat under his chairmanship on Wednesday.
The chief secretary said 1.5 million people were working in the unorganised sector in the state. The target is to register all of them on the e-Shram portal. Somed 81.52 lakh persons have already been registered.
He said that AP has stood first among the states that have integrated the e-Shram portal. He directed that district-wise and department-wise targets should be set for registration on the e-Shram portal. Meetings of district-level monitoring committees headed by the district collector should be held and steps taken to register more persons quickly.
The CS asked officials of the labour and other departments to create awareness among the workers in the unorganized sector on the benefits of their names being registered on the e-Shram portal on a large scale.
He said, “A large number of people work in unorganised sectors like construction and do not have facilities like PF and insurance. The e-Shram portal is a scheme introduced by the central government to ensure the future security of such workers to overcome the financial challenges they face in old age.
Not only insurance but also other financial assistance like free bicycles, work tools and sewing machines for the registered workers’ children can be received under this scheme.
Special chief secretary to the state labour employment department, Vani Prasad, explained the e-Shram portal through a PowerPoint presentation and said that all those working in the unorganised sector, i.e. migrant workers, construction workers, small businesses etc can register on the e-portal.
She said that today 90 per cent of workers are engaged in the unorganised sector. Data of unorganised workers is available district and sector-wise; and steps should be taken to register their names on the e-Shram portal using the data.
