AP Proposes Linking Pumped Storage Projects With Green Energy Corridor
The minister said the Centre was implementing the second phase of the green energy corridor, involving an investment of about Rs 11,500 crore
KAKINADA: The Centre has received proposals from several states, including Andhra Pradesh, to integrate Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) with the second phase of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC), Union minister of state for new and renewable energy informed the Rajya Sabha.
Replying to a question by Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish on Tuesday, the minister said APTransco had submitted proposals to strengthen the state’s power transmission system by linking pumped storage projects with the green energy corridor.
The minister said the Centre was implementing the second phase of the green energy corridor, involving an investment of about `11,500 crore, with participation from the states.
He said the Centre had taken several measures to expedite the implementation of pumped storage projects, including easing certain forest-related procedures and facilitating approvals for activities such as exploratory drilling and project development.
The minister added that the Centre was extending support to strengthen renewable energy infrastructure and improve power transmission systems connected to pumped storage projects in Andhra Pradesh.
