Amaravati Chitrakala Veedhi to be Held in Guntur on Aug. 8-9

VIJAYAWADA: Tourism, culture and cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh on Tuesday unveiled the poster for ‘Amaravati Chitrakala Veedhi’, a two-day art festival to be held in Guntur on August 8 and 9 under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh State Creativity and Culture Commission.

Unveiling the poster at his camp office in Vijayawada, the minister said the festival aims to showcase Andhra Pradesh's cultural heritage and the creative talent of artists while providing them with a wider platform.

The event will be held from 10 am to 8 pm on both days along the Koritepadu–Vidyanagar Road near the Guntur Inner Ring Road.

Durgesh said the festival would feature a dedicated cultural street where visitors could experience a variety of artistic displays. More than 800 stalls will exhibit and sell paintings, handicrafts and other creations by artists and artisans from across the country.

The festival will also feature nine stages hosting cultural performances, music concerts and entertainment programmes. Live art installations, photo booths and food courts offering a range of cuisines will be part of the event.

Referring to the response to last year’s ‘Chitrakala Veedhi’ in Rajamahendravaram, the minister said this year’s edition was being organised on a larger scale in Guntur, close to Amaravati, drawing inspiration from the success of the previous event.

Durgesh said such festivals play an important role in promoting the talent of Andhra Pradesh’s artists and appealed to art lovers, students and the public to participate in large numbers.

Andhra Pradesh State Creativity and Culture Commission chairperson Podapati Tejaswi was present at the poster launch.
