AP: Medapi Toll Plaza Roof Collapses Due To Heavy Rain, Gale

Nellore: Heavy rain and strong winds caused extensive damage in Tripuranthakam mandal of Markapur district on Monday, flattening the Medapi toll plaza and triggering panic among commuters and staff.

Officials said the toll plaza structure collapsed due to intense gusty winds accompanied by heavy rain. However, no toll plaza employees were injured in the incident, providing relief to authorities.

Following the collapse, toll booth materials, signboards and debris were scattered across the area. Vehicular movement on the route came to a temporary halt, though a major mishap was avoided as traffic was relatively thin at the time.

Yarragondapalem YSRC legislator Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar visited the site, inspected the damaged structure and enquired with officials about the circumstances that led to the incident.
